On Saturday, we attended The Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter annual Burns Night at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead, and what an incredible evening it was!
We enjoyed a night of fantastic entertainment, including a raffle, auction, silent whiskey auction, and games like Chuck-A-Grouse and Heads or Tails—all in the spirit of raising vital funds. Live music from Ceilidh band The Shipsters kept the energy high, and a delicious three-course meal featuring traditional haggis, neeps, and tatties set the perfect tone for the night.
During our Ode to the Haggis, we were treated to the stirring sounds of piper Iain Slater and a heartfelt reading by Iain Love, making it a truly memorable tribute.
A phenomenal £23,679.39! Was raised from the event. Every penny goes towards the care of the animals who rely on our local shelter. With no Government funding, it costs £1.4 million a year to keep the doors open, so this amazing support quite literally saves lives.
